Sioux Children's Knife Sheath / 1885

A rawhide-lined sheath wrapped in native-tanned hide and decorated on the obverse side with sinew-sewn seed beads. The top section features a starburst diamond motif comprising of greasy yellow outlined in black, on a blue field. The midline is fringed with tin cones whereby a drop hoists from the base. A brass collection tag hangs from the hide thong near the mouth, inscribed with the number "445."
