Blackfeet War Shirt / 1880

A man's shirt constructed from native-tanned hide which has been decorated in seed beads and ermine. The arms and bodice are adorned with beaded strips of blue "animal" tracks on a white field, ornamented with strips of winter coat ermine. The outer edge of the strips and collar are further hoisting fringe. The obverse and reverse are centered by a medallion using blue beads on a translucent white field to form a cross motif.
